Woodlands Historic Park

Woodlands Historic Park offers a fascinating mix of experiences right next to Melbourne Airport. The park protects the historic Woodlands Homestead, one of Victoria's oldest, and is a place of significant cultural importance to the Wurundjeri people. A key feature is the 'Back Paddock', a 400-hectare predator-proof enclosure where endangered Eastern Barred Bandicoots have been reintroduced. The park features rolling hills, grassy woodlands, and magnificent River Red Gums. A network of walking, cycling, and horse-riding trails offers great opportunities for recreation and wildlife spotting, often with the surreal backdrop of planes taking off and landing. To protect the wildlife, dogs are not permitted. The park gates open and close at set times. Entry is free.
