Wonthaggi Heathlands Nature Conservation Reserve

The Wonthaggi Heathlands Nature Conservation Reserve is a precious 812-hectare area that preserves one of the last remaining examples of coastal heathland in the region. The reserve is a paradise for botanists and nature lovers, especially in spring when it bursts into colour with a spectacular display of wildflowers and native orchids. A network of walking tracks, including the easy Baxters Loop with its boardwalk sections, allows visitors to explore this unique and fragile ecosystem. It's a fantastic place for birdwatching and enjoying a peaceful walk. To protect the sensitive environment, dogs are not permitted. Entry is free.
