Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve
Tower Hill, Great Ocean Road, VIC
105 Lake View Rd, Tower Hill, VIC 3283
Tower Hill is a spectacular geological formation—a 'nested maar' volcano—that is now a thriving wildlife sanctuary. After being cleared in the 19th century, the reserve has been the subject of a major revegetation project, restoring the native bushland. Today, it is one of the most reliable places in Australia to see koalas, emus, kangaroos, and wallabies roaming freely. A network of walking tracks allows visitors to explore the crater, climb to lookouts for panoramic views, and learn about the area's rich Aboriginal heritage at the Worn Gundidj Visitor Centre. The reserve has excellent picnic facilities. To protect the abundant wildlife, dogs are not permitted. Entry is free.
