The Lakes National Park
Sperm Whale Head, Gippsland, VIC
Sperm Whale Head, VIC 3851
The Lakes National Park is located on the Sperm Whale Head peninsula, a finger of land that separates Lake Victoria and Lake Reeve from the Ninety Mile Beach. The park is a haven for native wildlife, and visitors are almost guaranteed to see kangaroos, wallabies, and emus grazing peacefully. A network of walking tracks leads through coastal woodlands and heathlands to the sheltered shores of the lakes and the wild surf of the Ninety Mile Beach. The park is popular for its tranquil, lakeside campgrounds. Access is via unsealed roads. As a national park, dogs are not permitted. Entry is free, but camping fees apply.
