The Tamar Island Wetlands Centre, located just 10 minutes from Launceston, offers a unique estuarine wetland ecosystem abundant with birdlife. Visitors can enjoy a 1.5-hour return, 4 km accessible boardwalk suitable for strollers and wheelchairs, traversing mudflats, lagoons, and islands. Along the way, the interpretation centre provides insights into the cultural and natural values of the site. On Tamar Island, picnic tables and sheltered barbecues are available, along with accessible toilets. The area is home to various birds, mammals, reptiles, frogs, fish, and invertebrates, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.
