Stokes National Park, located approximately 80 km west of Esperance in Western Australia, encompasses the expansive Stokes Inlet and features long beaches, rocky headlands, sand dunes, and low hills. The inlet and its associated lakes support a variety of wildlife, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can explore the historical Moir Homestead Ruins, take walks on the trails, and spot diverse birdlife on the water. Fishing opportunities abound, with species such as black bream, Australian salmon, King George whiting, and mullet available. The park offers several campgrounds, including Benwenerup Campground suitable for two-wheel drive vehicles, and Fanny Cove Campground and Shoal Cape Campground, both accessible only by high-clearance four-wheel drive vehicles. The park also features the 6.4 km return Stokes Heritage Trail, providing beautiful vistas overlooking Stokes Inlet and insights into the ancient Zamias. Please note that park entry fees apply, and pets are not permitted due to ongoing 1080 baiting programs aimed at reducing the impacts of feral cats and foxes on native wildlife.
