Steiglitz Historic Park
Steiglitz, Geelong, VIC
3 Stawell St, Steiglitz, VIC 3331
Steiglitz Historic Park, located within the Brisbane Ranges National Park, preserves the ghostly remains of a gold mining town that was home to over 1,500 people in the 1890s. Today, only a handful of original buildings remain, including the magnificent courthouse, which is open on Sundays. Visitors can take a self-guided walk around the town, discovering old mine shafts, building foundations, and the historic cemetery. The park is set within a beautiful box-ironbark forest, with numerous walking tracks exploring both the history and the natural environment. A picnic area with barbecues is located in the centre of the old town. Dogs are permitted on-leash. Entry is free.
