Shannon National Park (Big Tree Grove)

Shannon National Park, located near Pemberton in Western Australia's South West, is renowned for its towering karri trees, some reaching up to 90 meters tall. The park offers a variety of activities, including bushwalking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, and horse riding. The Great Forest Trees Drive, a 50-kilometer self-guided route, winds through old-growth karri, jarrah, and marri forests, with interpretive signs along the way. Notable spots include Snake Gully Lookout, offering panoramic views, and Big Tree Grove, where visitors can marvel at the forest giants up close. The park also features the Shannon Campground, which provides unpowered campsites, and the Shannon Horse Camp, catering to equestrian enthusiasts with bridle trails ranging from 7 to 20 kilometers. Please note that dogs are not permitted in the park due to ongoing 1080 baiting programs aimed at reducing the impact of feral animals on native wildlife.
