Porongurup National Park, located approximately 40 kilometers north of Albany in Western Australia's Great Southern region, is renowned for its ancient granite peaks and lush karri forests. The park's centerpiece is the Granite Skywalk, a suspended walkway on the massive granite outcrop of Castle Rock, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The 2-kilometer walk from the Castle Rock picnic area traverses jarrah, marri, and karri forests, passing the famous Balancing Rock, and culminates in a challenging scramble over granite rocks and a 6-meter ladder to reach the upper lookout. Visitors can also enjoy a 23-kilometer scenic drive around the park, providing impressive views of the entire Porongurup Range. The park offers picnic areas equipped with barbecues and picnic tables, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. Please note that entry fees apply, and dogs are not permitted in the park.
