Point Nepean National Park

Portsea, Mornington Peninsula, VIC

Defence Rd, Portsea, VIC 3944

Point Nepean National Park occupies the narrow point of land where Port Phillip Bay meets the wild Bass Strait. The park has a long and important military history, having served as a quarantine station and a key defensive outpost for over 100 years. Visitors can explore the historic gun emplacements, tunnels, and fortifications at Fort Nepean. The park offers some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Victoria, with stunning views of the treacherous stretch of water known as 'The Rip'. The park can be explored on foot, by bicycle, or by using the park's shuttle bus service. To protect the heritage and environment, dogs are not permitted. Entry is free, but a fee applies for the shuttle bus.
