Newport Lakes Reserve
Newport, Melbourne, VIC
2 Lakes Dr, Newport, VIC 3015
Newport Lakes is a fantastic example of industrial land rehabilitation. The 33-hectare reserve has been transformed from a quarry into a thriving bushland park. It features two large lakes, the Pavey's Lake for recreation and the Arboretum for conservation. A highlight is the series of stepping stones that crosses the lake. The reserve has been extensively planted with thousands of native trees and shrubs, creating a vital habitat for birds and other wildlife. A network of walking trails makes it a popular spot for exercise. The park has excellent picnic and barbecue facilities, a nature-based playground, and a designated off-leash area for dogs. Entry is free.
