Nepean State Park
Portsea, Mornington Peninsula, VIC
Back Beach Rd, Portsea, VIC 3944
Nepean State Park was the former name for the coastal section of what is now the much larger Mornington Peninsula National Park. This area encompasses the wild and rugged 'back beaches' that face the powerful surf of Bass Strait, such as Sorrento Ocean Beach, Rye Ocean Beach, and Gunnamatta Beach. These beaches are characterised by dramatic cliffs, extensive sand dunes, and rock pools. The park offers spectacular coastal walking along the Coastal Walk trail, as well as fantastic opportunities for surfing. Numerous car parks provide access to the various beaches and lookouts. As part of a national park, dogs are not permitted in most areas. Entry is free.
