Melba Gully (part of Great Otway National Park)

Lavers Hill, Great Ocean Road, VIC

5055 Great Ocean Rd, Lavers Hill, VIC 3238

Melba Gully is a stunning, self-contained pocket of cool temperate rainforest within the Great Otway National Park. It is famous for its lushness, created by the high rainfall in the area. The main feature is the 35-minute Madsen's Track Nature Walk, an easy loop that takes visitors through a fairy-tale world of ancient Myrtle Beech trees, Blackwood trees, and an incredibly dense understorey of tree ferns and mosses. The gully is also famous for its colony of glow worms, which can be seen after dark. A well-equipped picnic area with barbecues, tables, and toilets is located at the entrance. As part of a national park, dogs are not permitted. Entry is free.
