Logan Lagoon Conservation Area
Waterhouse, Bridport, TAS
Homestead Road, Waterhouse TAS 7262

Logan Lagoon Conservation Area, located near Bridport in Tasmania's far north-east, is a tranquil wetland reserve encompassing diverse vegetation, including one of the largest heathland areas on the North-East Coast. The reserve features three major permanent deep-water lagoons, each with unique qualities. Notably, Little Waterhouse Lake is listed under the Ramsar Convention as an internationally significant wetland and supports a diversity of species, including the rare Wolfia australis, the smallest flowering plant in the world. The area provides important habitats for nine threatened bird species, at least three types of threatened mammals, and the rare freshwater dwarf galaxias fish. Blackmans Lagoon and its feeder creeks are significant sites in Tasmania for the precious green and golden frogs. Visitors can explore the area by vehicle (4WD recommended on unsealed roads) or boat, engage in fishing, and enjoy beach-based activities. Camping is popular, with numerous basic campsites available; visitors are encouraged to be self-sufficient, bringing water, food, and portable toilets. The reserve is accessible via Homestead Road, approximately 100 km north-east of Launceston and 42 km east of Bridport. For more information, visit the Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania website.
