Lerderderg State Park
Blackwood, Goldfields, VIC
Lerderderg Gorge Rd, Darley, VIC 3340
Lerderderg State Park protects the 300-metre deep Lerderderg Gorge, a dramatic landscape carved out by the Lerderderg River. The park is a paradise for experienced bushwalkers, with trails ranging from short walks to difficult, multi-day treks that often involve rock scrambling and river crossings. The park is rich in gold mining history, with old water races and mine tunnels hidden throughout the bush. Popular picnic spots like MacKenzies Flat provide easier access with facilities. Much of the park is remote and rugged, and hikers need to be well-prepared. Dogs are permitted on-leash in some areas, but not all. Entry is free.
