Lake Tyrrell

Sea Lake, Loddon Mallee, VIC

1-32 Bailey's Rd, Sea Lake, VIC 3533

Lake Tyrrell is an immense, shallow salt lake in the Mallee region of north-west Victoria. The name Tyrrell is derived from the local Aboriginal word for 'sky'. The lake is famous for its otherworldly beauty, created when a shallow layer of water covers the salt bed, turning it into a giant, flawless mirror that reflects the sky. This makes it an internationally renowned destination for photographers, particularly for capturing sunrise, sunset, and the starry night sky. A viewing platform and walking track provide access to the lake edge. The best time for reflections is often during the winter months. Dogs are permitted on-leash. Entry is free.
