Lake Muir Nature Reserve

Lake Muir Nature Reserve is a serene wetland area situated along the Muir Highway, approximately 30 kilometers east of Manjimup. This reserve is part of the Muir-Byenup wetland system, which is internationally significant for its biodiversity. The area is a haven for bird enthusiasts, offering opportunities to observe various species in their natural habitat. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the 110-meter boardwalk that leads to an elevated bird hide, providing expansive views over the lake and surrounding wetlands. The reserve also features an information shelter where visitors can learn about the local flora and fauna. Picnic tables are available for those wishing to relax and enjoy a meal amidst nature. The area is accessible by car, with parking facilities provided. Dogs are not permitted in the reserve to protect the wildlife. Entry to Lake Muir Nature Reserve is free, making it an accessible destination for all nature lovers. The reserve is managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and the Menang people are recognized as the Traditional Owners of the land.
