La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary
Bundoora, Melbourne, VIC
La Trobe Ave, Bundoora, VIC 3086
The La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary is a 30-hectare reserve located at the university's Bundoora campus. It plays a vital role in research, conservation, and environmental education. The sanctuary protects a range of habitats, including River Red Gum woodlands and wetlands, which are home to a variety of native animals like kangaroos, sugar gliders, and echidnas. A network of walking paths and boardwalks allows students and the public to explore the area. An outdoor 'classroom' and a visitor centre are part of the facilities. To protect the wildlife, dogs are not permitted. Entry is free, but parking on campus may be paid.
