Kate Reed Nature Recreation Area, located on the southern outskirts of Launceston, Tasmania, is a popular destination for mountain biking, running, and dog walking. The reserve features approximately 15 kilometers of mainly single-track trails, making it ideal for new riders. The tracks are shared-use, accommodating both cyclists and pedestrians. The area is home to various eucalypt species and several small threatened plant species, including trailing speedwell (Veronica plebeian). The reserve is accessible via two entrances: one through the Silverdome complex on Oakden Road and another from the Kings Meadows connector on the Midland Highway. Parking is available near both entrances. Dogs must be kept on-lead at all times for the safety of all track users. Please note that the reserve does not offer facilities such as barbecues, playgrounds, or picnic tables. Entry to the park is free.
