Jawbone Flora and Fauna Reserve
Williamstown, Melbourne, VIC
Bayview St, Williamstown, VIC 3016
The Jawbone Flora and Fauna Reserve protects a precious and increasingly rare coastal habitat. Named for its distinctive shape, the reserve is a series of saline wetlands and saltmarsh that provide a critical feeding and roosting ground for thousands of local and international migratory waterbirds. A network of walking and cycling tracks, including boardwalks and viewing platforms, allows visitors to explore this fascinating ecosystem and observe the birdlife without causing disturbance. The reserve offers stunning views across Port Phillip Bay to the Melbourne skyline. To protect the fragile environment, dogs are not permitted. Entry is free.
