Heathcote, Goldfields, VIC
Northern Hwy, Heathcote, VIC 3523
Heathcote-Graytown National Park protects a large and continuous area of precious box-ironbark forest, a habitat that is vital for threatened species like the Swift Parrot and Regent Honeyeater. The park is steeped in history, with the landscape bearing the scars of the 19th-century gold rush, including mine shafts, mullock heaps, and cyanide vats. It's a popular location for birdwatching, bushwalking, and recreational prospecting. The park has several campgrounds and picnic areas, some with basic facilities. Visitors should be cautious of unmarked mine shafts when walking off-track. As a national park, dogs are not permitted. Entry is free.
