Healesville Sanctuary
Healesville, Melbourne, VIC
Badger Creek Rd, Healesville, VIC 3777
Nestled in the Yarra Valley, Healesville Sanctuary is a premier destination to experience Australia's unique fauna. The sanctuary is not a traditional park but a zoo that focuses on native animals, set within a natural 30-hectare bushland environment. Visitors can follow the meandering paths to see koalas, kangaroos, platypus, dingoes, wombats, and a huge variety of birdlife. A highlight is the 'Spirits of the Sky' bird of prey presentation. The sanctuary also plays a critical role in conservation and breeding programs for endangered species. It has cafes, picnic areas, and a playground. An entrance fee is required to enter. To protect the animals, pets are not permitted.
