Hastings Caves State Reserve

Hastings Caves State Reserve, located 125 kilometers south of Hobart, Tasmania, offers visitors a unique blend of natural wonders and recreational activities. The reserve is renowned for Newdegate Cave, the largest dolomite cave in Australia open to tourists. Guided tours of the cave, led by Parks and Wildlife Service staff, are available daily and provide insights into the cave's geology, history, and unique features. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and involves navigating about 500 stairs. Tickets for the cave tour can be purchased at the Hastings Cave Visitor Centre, which also offers information, souvenirs, and light refreshments. Visitors can enjoy a swim in the pool, which is set in a lush forest glade and is accessible to wheelchair users.
