Greater Bendigo National Park

Greater Bendigo National Park is unique in that it is split into several distinct blocks surrounding the city of Bendigo. The park protects one of central Victoria's largest remaining areas of box-ironbark forest, an ecosystem that was heavily cleared during the gold rush. The park is a treasure trove of gold mining heritage, with old mine shafts, puddlers, and ruins scattered throughout. It offers a wide range of recreational activities, including bushwalking, cycling, horse riding, and birdwatching. Popular areas like One Tree Hill and the Crusoe Reservoir have picnic facilities. As a national park, dogs are generally not permitted, though they may be allowed on-leash in specific areas like the No. 7 Reservoir. It's best to check Parks Victoria for current regulations.
