Eucla, Esperance, WA
Eyre Highway, Eucla WA 6443

Eucla Dunes Nature Reserve is a remote coastal area located along the southern coastline of Western Australia, near the town of Eucla. The reserve is characterized by expansive sand dunes and rugged cliffs, offering a pristine and untouched natural environment. Visitors can explore the area by four-wheel driving along the beach, fishing, and bushwalking. The reserve is part of the Nuytsland Nature Reserve, which encompasses a diverse range of landscapes, including coastal cliffs, beaches, sand dunes, and inland woodlands. The Eyre Bird Observatory, established in 1977, is situated within the reserve and serves as a hub for bird watching and research. The area is also home to the Baxter Cliffs, a 190 km long and 80 m high escarpment, providing stunning coastal views. Due to its remote location, visitors are advised to be well-prepared, self-sufficient, and aware of the potential risks associated with coastal and cliff environments. There are no facilities such as toilets, picnic areas, or designated camping sites within the reserve. Entry to the reserve is free, and dogs are not permitted.
