Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands
Edithvale, Melbourne, VIC
278 Edithvale Rd, Edithvale, VIC 3196
The Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands are the largest remaining remnant of the once-extensive Carrum Carrum Swamp. This urban oasis provides a critical habitat for thousands of waterbirds, including many species that migrate from the northern hemisphere. The wetlands can be explored via a 7.5km walking and cycling trail that runs along the perimeter. Several bird hides are strategically placed to allow for close-up views of the birdlife without causing disturbance. A Wetlands Discovery Centre at Edithvale provides interactive displays and information about the ecosystem. To protect the sensitive wildlife, dogs and other pets are not permitted. Entry is free.
