Discovery Bay Coastal Park
Nelson, Grampians, VIC
Princes Hwy, Nelson, VIC 3292
Discovery Bay Coastal Park protects a magnificent 55km stretch of coastline. The eastern end, near Cape Bridgewater, features Victoria's highest coastal cliffs, a colony of fur seals, and a unique petrified forest. The western end is characterized by huge, active sand dunes that create a dramatic, almost desert-like landscape. The park is a popular destination for fishing, surfing, and remote coastal walking. The Great South West Walk traverses the entire length of the park. Facilities are concentrated at key access points like Cape Bridgewater and the Swan Lake campground. Much of the park is remote and requires a 4WD for access. Dogs are permitted on-leash in some areas, but restrictions apply. Entry is free.
