Dampier Archipelago–Cape Preston Marine Park

The Dampier Archipelago–Cape Preston Marine Park is a significant marine conservation area located in Western Australia's Pilbara region. It encompasses the Dampier Archipelago, a group of 42 islands and islets, and the adjacent Cape Preston coastline. This park is renowned for its rich biodiversity, including over 650 species of fish, and its cultural significance to the Bardi and Jawi Traditional Owners, who have utilized these waters for thousands of years for hunting, fishing, and cultural activities. The park offers opportunities for various recreational activities such as boating, fishing, snorkeling, and diving. Camping is permitted on some islands for stays of up to five days, provided visitors are self-sufficient and take all rubbish with them. The park is free to enter, and pets are not permitted to protect native wildlife. Visitors are encouraged to plan their trips carefully, as facilities are limited, and to respect the cultural and environmental values of the area.
