Coopracambra National Park is a true wilderness area, forming part of a continuous chain of forested parks that stretches across the border into New South Wales. The park is characterized by its deep gorges, powerful rivers, and magnificent ancient forests. It is a place for experienced, self-sufficient bushwalkers and 4WD enthusiasts seeking solitude and a genuine connection with nature. There are very few visitor facilities. The main access is via the Monaro Highway, with a number of unsealed tracks leading into the park's interior. Attractions include the spectacular Genoa Gorge and the views from the fire tower on Mealing Hill. Dogs are not permitted. Entry is free.
