Coningham Nature Recreation Area

Coningham Nature Recreation Area, located just beyond the hustle and bustle of Hobart, is a coastal reserve that offers a tranquil escape into nature. The area features walking tracks that wind along the coastline and ascend to hilltops, providing picturesque views of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and the surrounding bays. The reserve is home to a variety of native plants and serves as a habitat for diverse bird species, including white-bellied sea eagles and wedge-tailed eagles. Little penguins also frequent the shores, adding to the area's rich biodiversity. The reserve is popular among field naturalists, photographers, horse riders, orienteers, mountain bikers, beachcombers, fishers, and bushwalkers. Visitors can enjoy the serene environment, explore the walking tracks, and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area. The reserve is accessible via Coningham Road, with parking facilities available for visitors. Please note that dogs are not permitted off-leash within the reserve.
