Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park

Chiltern, Hume, VIC

Chiltern-Howlong Rd, Chiltern, VIC 3683

Located between Beechworth and Chiltern, this national park protects one of the most significant remaining stands of box-ironbark forest. The park is a mosaic of natural and cultural history. The rocky peak of Mount Pilot offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The forests are a critical habitat for rare and endangered species, including the Regent Honeyeater and Turquoise Parrot, making it a premier birdwatching destination. The park is also scattered with relics from the gold rush era, including the Indigo Goldfields and the Magenta Mine. The Yeddonba Aboriginal Art Site provides a glimpse into the area's rich Indigenous history. Picnic facilities are available at several locations. Dogs are not permitted. Entry is free.
