Blackburn Lake Sanctuary

Blackburn Lake Sanctuary is one of the few significant remaining examples of the native bushland that once covered the Melbourne area. The sanctuary was established in the late 19th century and has a long history of conservation. It features a network of well-maintained walking tracks that meander through the forest and around the lake, with interpretive signs providing information about the local flora and fauna. It's a popular spot for birdwatching and quiet reflection. The sanctuary includes a visitor centre, picnic tables, and a playground located near the main entrance. To protect the wildlife, dogs are not permitted within the sanctuary. Entry is free.
