Barrington Tops is a renowned wilderness area located between Scone, Dungog, and Gloucester. It protects one of the largest temperate rainforests in mainland Australia, offering a wide range of trails from easy nature walks to challenging multi-day hikes. It is a major tourism destination for bushwalking, cycling, and camping. Snow often falls in winter, leading to road closures; a 4WD vehicle is advisable for many areas. Parking & Fees: Entry to the National Park is free. Camping and accommodation fees apply for designated sites (e.g., Gloucester River, Polblue). Check NPWS for road status before visiting.
